Artisan Produced Fine Wines

La Fornace was referenced as a “buzz worthy” estate in a Food & Wine article in late 2006.  It is located at a high elevation in one of the best wine areas in the Brunello territory, sitting just minutes outside the city.  The property, of approx 5 hectares, was purchased by Fabio’s family many years ago.  He is the third generation of his family to imprint has character on Brunello, having assumed that role from his mother, whose last vintage was 1995.   The family has made substantial investments in creating a modern, yet classic winery and the vineyards are spectacular.

Fabio creates a traditional, clean, full bodied Brunello with garnet coloring.  His Rosso is as near Brunello possible considering how much less time the wine spends in wood.  In the best harvest years, Fabio also creates a Riserva Brunello which historically scores extremely well with the trade press.

2004 La Fornace Brunello di Montalcino

91 Points - Wine Spectator Online, April 2009

Aromas of plum and earth follow through to a medium to full body, with coffee, berry and chocolate flavors.  Delicate, with lightly chewy tannins.  Not the biggest Brunello but delicious and ripe.  Drink now through 2012.  800 cases made.  JS
