Gianfranco is a third generation winemaker and continues the tradition of his father and grandfather, the latter who started the Azienda Alessandria in the 1940’s. The winery has 5.5 hectares in Monforte d’Alba within the Piedmont region.  Varietals include Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto.  Gianfranco harvests all grapes by hand with extremely high selectivity and low yields.

· Barolo S. Giovanni is among the world’s premier Barolos.  Consistent 3 Glass winner with similar range ratings (92-95 pts) from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker.  30-40 year old vines with 24 months of aging in French oak (50% new).

· Barbera d’Alba Vittoria is harvested from 50-60 year old vines and is similarly well rated. 18 months of aging in French oak.
